Ways to prevent advertising leading to childhood obesity

In order to prevent childhood obesity, parents can take several approaches:

A. Create a positive eating environment for your child

Although many children have the ability to stop eating when they are full, they are still influenced by the overall atmosphere and parental behaviour at mealtime. Children who feel stressed during meals can result in less detectable signals of fullness or hunger that their bodies naturally send. By providing children with a variety of healthy foods and allowing them to choose what they want to eat - and more importantly, how much they want to eat - they can be encouraged to develop healthy eating habits. In many cases, this can lead to the development of healthy eating habits and the maintenance of a healthy weight later in life.

B. Parents demonstrate healthy eating patterns themselves

Children will only eat healthily if their parents eat healthily. While the health of a child is inextricably linked to genetics, the eating habits of the whole family are the key to the healthy development of children. Parents can start by setting an example for their children by replacing unhealthy foods with relatively healthy ones. Parents can adopt a healthy eating pattern to help children achieve and maintain a healthy weight as they grow older. Eating a variety of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, lean protein foods and low-fat, non-fat dairy products provides optimal health whole family.

Studies by the Japanese Sleep Assessment Research Institute have shown that Asians generally have a short sleep schedule, where the sleep habits of parents directly affect the sleep habits of their children, i.e. if parents sleep late, children will not sleep early either. Lack of sleep can cause a large reduction in the production of hormones that promote growth in children, which can affect development. Children who are unable to eat breakfast due to morning sleepiness or have a poor appetite in the morning tend to eat a lot of food in the evening and can easily gain weight. Good sleep helps prevent type 2 diabetes, obesity, injuries and attention and behavioural problems.
