There are numerous misunderstandings about the beauty industry that may discourage some individuals from pursuing a career in the sector, even if it is their ambition! We are here to clarify some of these myths. Here are four fallacies about working in our sector and the reasons why they are false:

BEING IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY IS COMPARABLE TO BEING IN THE FILM "MEAN GIRLS."

Because there are so many women working in the beauty industry, it must feel very much like being back in senior year of high school, right? WRONG! The business world is filled with wonderful, kind, and kind individuals who are more than eager to provide a hand to rising stars in their quest to realise their full potential. Find a salon where you'll be surrounded by people whose ideals are similar to yours, and you won't have to worry about a thing.

YOU WON’T FIND A LONG-TERM CAREER IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY.

Working behind the chair isn't the only option available to you if you want to launch your career in the beauty industry, which is a terrific location to begin your professional journey! As a licenced hairstylist, you have access to a wealth of career choices, some examples of which include being a creative director, salon owner, film and television stylist, or educator in a hair school. These are just some of the possibilities. Aveda is a global leader in the sector, and its name awareness directly translates into unlimited potential. It is anticipated that the market will expand by 31% in the next decade alone.

HAIRSTYLISTS DON’T MAKE ANY MONEY

Nope! The first 10 months of your career are spent in school, and after that, you start getting paid as you continue your education through an apprenticeship. Doesn't that sound like a better option than shelling out money for four years of school? As you gain more expertise, you will be able to raise the rates of the services you provide, make more money in tips, and begin to earn commissions. Do you want to look at some cold, hard numbers? You can read our interview with a working hairstylist here, in which she discusses her career and salary history.

ALL BEAUTY EDUCATION IS THE SAME QUALITY

Absolutely not! The essentials of colouring, cutting, and styling hair are something that are taught at all schools, but there is a limit to how far these skills can lead you. We give our students with a professional tool kit that is theirs to keep after they graduate, in addition to offering a contemporary and advanced curriculum that covers topics such as barbering, textured hair, aesthetics, and hair extensions. In addition, we provide bonus seminars that will give you an edge in the field. These workshops cover topics such as photography, social media, and business skills that will educate you how to be successful and provide services that are in high demand.
